Martha DeEtt McAllister Emerick

	Martha DeEtt McAllister Emerick, 84, of DuQuoin, passed away Friday, May 3, 2002 at 5:20 a.m. in Doctors Health and Rehab Center in Salem, Ill.
	Mrs. Emerick had been a seamstress, an antique dealer and was the Director of the DuQuoin Food Pantry.  She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church.  She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 309, Past President of the Southern Illinois White Shrine Club, Faith Court of Order Amaranthus 29, Centralia, VFW Auxiliary and a 60-year member of Royal Neighbors and White Shrine Lodge.
	She was born November 21, 1917 in DuQuoin, the daughter of Richard Thomas and Minnie (Wingert) McAllister.  She married Raymond Cross on November 22, 1947 and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1954.  She then married Dr. Cecil Emerick on May 19, 1959 at DuQuoin and he preceded her in death on August  28, 1972.
	Surviving are a sister, Lillian Nausley of Wichita Falls, Tex.; nieces, Gail Kay Ortiz of Colorado Springs, Colo., Genie Zappanti of Henderson, Nev., Mary Ann Morris of DuQuoin and Martha Jane Stalewhiski of Arlinigton, Tex.; nephews, Richard W. McAllister of Springfield, Mike Swayne of DuQuoin, Andy Swayne of DuQuoin, Richard G. Swayne of Greenville and Bruce Swayne of Goldsboro, N.C.; several great nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.
	She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one sister and one brother.
	Funeral services were Monday, May 6 at 8 p.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Fred Bishop officiating.
	Graveside rites were conducted Wednesday, May 8 at 11 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin.
